26&2 in the Park

This class is taught by:

Melissa Domingo

I grew up in New Jersey, and moved west when I turned 25. In 2009, while living in the chaos of Las Vegas, I discovered my yoga practice. I was immediately drawn to Bikram yoga. The discipline of the practice was intriguing, and it was exactly what I needed to create health and well being, both physically and mentally. I knew I had found something that was going to change the rest of my life. I went to Bikrams teacher training In 2010. My new career as a yoga teacher took me to Northern California. In 2015 I received my yin yoga certificate, which helped me deepen my practice and balance my yang lifestyle. As I became more and more aware of this balanced lifestyle, this led me to Ayurveda. I am currently enrolled in the California College of Ayurveda. I also teach and practice intermediate hatha yoga from the Ghosh lineage. I feel so blessed to have access to all of this knowledge, and I look forward to being able to share, discuss, and teach this information along the way.

Laurel Hanson

Laurel has been a Bikram Yoga practitioner for over 7 years.  She was first drawn to the practice because of job stress and stress-related injuries, like neck strain, migraines, and insomnia.  With a regular practice she found lasting relief from such issues along with renewed energy.

After being laid off in the economic downturn she took some time off from yoga and began her new journey, Women's flat Track Roller Derby.  After participating in a full-contact sport it didn't take long for her to see the benefits a Bikram Yoga practice could provide.  Not only did a regular Bikram practice alleviate pain and muscle fatigue but, after a few months of consistent practice, gave her an athletic edge her teammates could easily notice.  Better flexibility, more endurance, mental focus and clarity, balance, and muscle control made her a stronger more agile skater and took her to the next level.  "At first the other girls called me crazy for going to Bikram then coming to practice.  After a few months however, they were always asking 'What's that yoga you're doing?"

She completed teacher training in January of 2015 and is more dedicated than ever to spreading knowledge of the power of a strong practice.  "Yoga helps with every facet of life, whether you struggle with depression, mood, lethargy, chronic pain, or are an athlete looking to up your game, yoga is the answer."  - Laurel
This is a Bikram method class which consists of a challenging series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, suitable for all ages and all levels of ability. Each posture stretches, strengthens, and prepares specific muscles, ligaments, and joints needed for the next posture. This yoga class also stimulates organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order. Bikram Choudhury scientifically designed this 90 minute program to deliver total health through the balancing and
strengthening of every system in the body. To prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss and limit the effects of aging. This series of postures also improves concentration, patience, determination, and self-control to increase mental clarity and reduce stress. This yoga class is done in a heated room to warm your muscles, prevent injury, allow a deeper workout and cleanse the body by flushing toxins.
